On June 5, 2025, a UK-based player hit a historic jackpot of £11,498,211 while playing the original version of Mega Moolah at Betfred.com, placing just a £1.50 bet. This monumental win, quickly picked up by gaming news sites and UK media, marks another turning point in the history of online progressive jackpot slots.
Who Won the Mega Moolah Jackpot?
The winner is Arron Freeman, a 44-year-old scaffolder from Norfolk, England. A longtime horse racing enthusiast, Arron was encouraged by his partner to open a Betfred account. He occasionally tried his luck on the site’s online casino games.
On the evening of June 5, 2025, after a family night out, he gave Mega Moolah a spin. That £1.50 wager triggered the game’s famous jackpot bonus wheel—and when the pointer landed on the Mega Jackpot, Arron’s life—and his family’s—changed forever.
The Jackpot Amount
At the time of the win, the exact amount was £11,498,211.89, which is approximately $15.5 million USD. It’s the biggest jackpot ever recorded on Betfred.com. The previous record was £5.4 million, won in 2023 on the King Kong Cashpots slot—another player-favorite on the site.
Mega Moolah: Legendary Jackpots
Each Mega Moolah jackpot win reminds us why this series is so iconic. With over 30 different versions powered by Games Global, players can explore a wide variety of themes while chasing life-changing wins.
For longtime fans, the original 2006 version of Mega Moolah remains the top pick. It’s this very safari-themed slot that delivered the £11.5 million jackpot to Arron. The win cements Mega Moolah’s place as one of the most rewarding progressive jackpot slots of all time.
Betfred.com and Mega Moolah
While Betfred is best known for its sports betting, especially on horse racing and football, the site also offers a dedicated casino section featuring multiple Mega Moolah titles.
The partnership between Games Global and Betfred benefits both sports bettors and slot players looking for massive progressive jackpots. It’s a win-win collaboration for everyone.
The Winner’s Reaction and Plans
In interviews, Arron shared that he plans to take a dream vacation with his partner Kelly. But beyond the celebrations, he also has a generous vision: he hopes to build a homeless shelter, partially funded through the sale of their story to a media outlet.
When it comes to gambling, Arron says he’ll continue to play now and then, but only with small bets—for fun, not fortune. As for the millions he’s won, he’s considering real estate investments to secure his future.
Fred Done, the founder of Betfred, personally called Arron to congratulate him and invited him as a VIP guest to a Manchester United home match—an unforgettable gesture for a lifelong supporter of the club.
The Original 2006 Mega Moolah Slot
The original Mega Moolah slot may look a bit vintage, but it’s still going strong. With 5 reels, 25 paylines, a free spins round with 3x multipliers, and its legendary jackpot wheel, this safari-themed game continues to thrill players across the globe.
Among all Mega Moolah games, the 2006 version has delivered the highest number of record wins. Its iconic lion symbol is instantly recognizable, contributing to its lasting popularity in the world of online slots.
